ST. LOUIS - Hate crimes have been on the rise in the United States since the start of the Israel-Hamas war. In response to the sharp increase in violence, the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) has sent out its Hate Crime Threat Response Guide.FBI St. Louis Special Agent in Charge Jay Greenberg said the fear of violence spans across multiple communities.“We are seeing a heightened sense of fear in our Jewish communities, our Arab, our Muslim, and our pro-Palestinian communities,” Greenberg said.So, what is a hate crime?The FBI defines a hate crime as an attack against a person or property motivated, at least in part, by a federally protected characteristic, like race or religion. JENNINGS, Mo. – A juvenile was grazed by gunfire Thursday evening and rushed to a local hospital. According to Officer Adrian Washington, a spokesperson for the St. Louis County Police Department, police were called to a residence in the 8800 block of Orchard Avenue just after 8:20 p.m. for a reported shooting.When they arrived at the home, officers found a juvenile female suffering from a graze wound.The female’s injuries were not life-threatening, Washington said. No other injuries were reported.Police learned a vehicle arrived at Orchard Avenue and shot at the residence before the driver sped off.Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact the St. Louis County Police Department. Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash that killed a motorcyclist in the San Fernando Valley Thursday night, authorities with the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to KTLA. Calls about the three-vehicle crash in the 8600 block of North Woodley Avenue in North Hills came in at around 6:40 p.m. Surveillance footage of the incident obtained by KTLA shows the driver of a Harley Davidson making a left turn out of a strip mall parking lot when the victim is fatally broadsided by the driver of a white sedan. In the aftermath of the violent collision, a heavily damaged four-door Toyota sedan with severe damage to its front end can be seen. Police have not yet confirmed that was the vehicle operated by the hit-and-run driver, nor have they said whether the hit-and-run suspect fled the area on foot or continued on in their own vehicle.
